Joining a Voice Channel

Click any voice channel in the channel sidebar to join it. You'll see a voice panel appear above the user panel on the left.

Controls

Button	Action
🎤 Mute/Unmute	Toggle your microphone on or off
🔇 Deafen	Mute both your mic and incoming audio
📺 Screen share	Share your screen or a specific window
📞 Disconnect	Leave the voice channel

Sound Cues

Fluffwire plays subtle audio cues for voice events:

Event	Sound
You join a voice channel	Two-note ascending chime
Another user joins	Short ascending tone
Another user leaves	Short descending tone
You disconnect	Descending tone

You can disable all sounds in Settings → Notifications.

Screen Sharing

Click the screen share button while in a voice channel to share:

• Your entire screen
• A specific application window

Other members in the channel will see a screen share icon next to your name and can click it to view your stream.

Troubleshooting

No one can hear me

1. Check that the correct microphone is selected in your operating system's audio settings.
2. Make sure you are not muted — the microphone icon in the voice panel should not have a line through it.
3. Try leaving and rejoining the voice channel.

I can't hear anyone

1. Check your system volume and make sure Fluffwire is not muted.
2. Make sure you are not deafened — the headphones icon should not have a line through it.
3. Try leaving and rejoining the voice channel.

Poor audio quality or cutting out

• Check your internet connection.
• Close other applications that may be using significant bandwidth.
• Try a wired connection instead of Wi-Fi.

Browser permissions

If using the web app, make sure you have granted microphone access when the browser prompted you. To re-grant:

• Chrome/Edge: Click the lock icon in the address bar → Microphone → Allow.
• Firefox: Click the lock icon → Permissions → Microphone → Allow.
