Direct Messages

Direct messages (DMs) let you have private one-to-one conversations with other users, outside of any server.

Starting a DM

1. Click the friends icon (home) at the top of the server bar to go to the friends view.
2. Find the user you want to message in your friends list and click Message, or click their name.
3. Alternatively, click a user's avatar anywhere in the app and choose Send Message from the context menu.

DM List

All your open DM conversations are listed on the left side of the friends view. Click any conversation to open it.

Sending Messages in DMs

DMs work exactly like text channels — you can send text (with Markdown), attach files, and add emoji reactions.

Closing a DM

Right-click a DM conversation in the sidebar and choose Close. The conversation history is not deleted — you can reopen it at any time by messaging that person again.
